Frequently Asked Questions
What is the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet and how does it work?
The ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet is a premium automatic CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine designed to treat obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). It automatically adjusts air pressure levels throughout the night based on your real-time breathing patterns, delivering therapy that adapts to you.
It includes features such as AutoRamp, Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR), a heated humidifier, and wireless connectivity to track your sleep data via the myAir app. Ideal for personalised, comfortable therapy, it’s easy to use, clinically trusted, and widely recommended by sleep specialists.
What’s the difference between AirSense 10 AutoSet and AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her?
The ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet and the AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her both treat obstructive sleep apnoea, but the ‘For Her’ model has an additional therapy mode tailored to women’s unique breathing patterns. It responds more gently to shorter, more frequent breathing events.
Hardware is identical aside from the colour scheme. The ‘For Her’ provides personalised care for women who may benefit from a more nuanced pressure response.
How do I clean and maintain my ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP machine?
Clean the water tub, mask, and tubing weekly with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse well and air dry. Wipe down the machine with a damp cloth as needed, and inspect and replace the air filter every 1–6 months. Always use distilled water in the humidifier to avoid mineral buildup.
How do I change the pressure settings on my ResMed AirSense 10?
Only your sleep specialist should adjust your prescribed pressure settings. You can adjust comfort settings like ramp time and EPR yourself, but always consult your clinician for pressure changes to ensure effective therapy.
How do I know if my AirSense 10 is working properly?
Check the screen Sleep Report after use—green smiley faces indicate everything is working well. You should feel gentle airflow and smooth adjustments. The myAir app also provides feedback. Unusual noise, leaks, or errors may indicate an issue; check tubing, mask, and filter, or contact support if problems persist.
Why is my ResMed AirSense 10 so loud?
The AirSense 10 is designed to be whisper-quiet. Noise is usually due to loose connections, mask leaks, a dirty filter, or water in the tube (‘rainout’). Check and fix these issues. If the noise persists, contact your provider to check for internal problems.
Can I use tap water in my AirSense 10 humidifier?
It’s strongly recommended to use distilled or demineralised water to avoid mineral deposits and bacteria growth. Tap water can damage the humidifier over time. As a backup while travelling, boiled and cooled tap water can be used occasionally.
Can I travel with the ResMed AirSense 10?
Yes, it’s airline-approved as medical equipment and doesn’t count towards luggage limits. Use the travel bag, enable Airplane Mode, and bring a doctor’s letter. For camping, consider a compatible battery pack like the ResMed Power Station II.
What do I do if my AirSense 10 is not recording data?
Ensure Airplane Mode is off and leave the device plugged in to upload data. Check the SD card (if applicable) and wait about an hour after use. If the problem persists, inspect for hardware issues or contact support at 1300 76 29 39.
How do I register and use the ResMed myAir app?
Download the app on iOS or Android, create an account with your email and device serial number, and pair the machine. The app gives you a daily score, coaching tips, and progress tracking to help improve therapy adherence.
How often should I replace AirSense 10 parts?
Replace the filter every 1–6 months, mask cushion every 1–3 months, tubing every 6–12 months, and water tub every 6 months. Inspect headgear regularly and replace it as needed.
